Prepping Your Mower for the First Mow of the Year
Lawn care, particularly mowing, is a serious business for many homeowners. Keeping a nice lawn is essential to owners! It contributes to your curb appeal and showcases your home nicely. Our team at J5 Tractors wants to help you get the results you want, so continue reading for a few ways to prepare your mower for its first use of the year!
1. Dust it Off
Ideally, your mower was stored away for the winter season, even if you’re in an area that doesn’t experience harsh winters. Grass will lie dormant throughout the winter season, meaning it doesn’t grow and you shouldn’t have much maintenance to worry about. As the longer days approach, however, it will exit its dormant state and begin growing again. So, you’ll want to take your mower out of storage, evaluate its condition, and fire it up!
2. Complete an Inspection
As you get it out of storage, you’ll need to complete an inspection. Check over all of the moving parts and components and look for signs of damage or deterioration that may have occurred over the slow season. Your inspection will tell you how much maintenance it may need before you can complete the first cut.
3. Tackle Maintenance
With your inspection complete, it's time to tackle any maintenance issues. You might need to replace or sharpen the blades, complete an oil change, and clean out the fuel tank. However, if you completed the essential maintenance tasks before storage, you might have found your mower is ready to go for the year.
These three steps may seem simple, but they’re the best way to get your mower back up to speed. Visit us in Conroe, Buna, Normangee, or Navasota, TX, to stock up on the mower parts you need. We also carry a great inventory of mowers if you’re ready to upgrade!
