How to Avoid a Tractor Rollover
Despite how dangerous they are, tractor rollovers are unexpectedly common. Because these machines carry so much of their weight in one area, they’re very easy to flip onto their back or side, leading to damaged equipment and often an injured operator. To avoid a rollover and ensure the safety of both your machinery and your driver, be sure to read over our helpful prevention tips below.
Avoid Steep Terrain
Tractors are incredibly unbalanced, with a majority of their weight sitting at the back of the machine. While this isn’t usually an issue while completing farm work or other heavy-duty tasks, climbing up sharp inclines or declines is very likely to unbalance your tractor and leave it stuck on its back. When possible avoid traveling through hilly areas, and try to take inclines at an angle to avoid a rollover.
Avoid Sharp Turns
While tractors aren’t as likely to tip to the side as they are to tip backward, it is possible to end up flipping your tractor onto its side by taking a turn too sharply. When turning your tractor remember to slow your speed significantly and give your equipment a wide area to turn to avoid unbalancing your model.
